As a student at Durham University in the mid 90s Mark played in Jazz Funk band ‘Circular Miles’, enjoying local success in the North East supporting The James Taylor Quartet, Corduroy, and Mother Earth. It was during this time he wrote the songs for his first album.
On returning to North Norfolk he recorded rewrite the summertime blues and started gigging the material around local pubs.
He set up Don’t Spook the Horse, joined the electric ceilidh band News of the Victory, and the Jones Project (Sianed Jones), performing on her album “surrender“.
graffiti was recorded in 2002 using a TASCAM DA78HR (completely obsolete now but fab at the time) and some Neumann mics kindly loaned by Les Chappell. This is a poetic and intimate album.
confusion rides was recorded in 2005 in a number of locations and features Jane Mitchell (Flute), George Crawley (Piano, Organ), Les Chappell (Junk), Steve Bingham (Violin) and Henry Lascelles (Drums).
Mark is one of the original members of The John Preston Tribute Band which was formed on 2007, released it’s first EP ‘Reduced To Clear’ in 2009 and 2013 it’s first album, ‘Ruling Class’.
Mark has arranged and composed music for fEast theatre, including their adaptation of Jeremy Page’s SALT, and two of Nick Lane’s Christmas plays ‘Little Red Riding Hood’ and “Hansel and Gretel’
